Graduated Mechanical Engineering at Ljubljana University, Slovenia. He was awarded a Fulbright scholarship for master studies in the USA and graduated from the University of Florida as MSc in industrial engineering.

Throughout his professional career he worked in the quality and productivity field. After the issuance of the ISO 9000 series of standards, Mr. Lekic started with promotion of implementing and certifying quality systems in Yugoslavia and other middle European countries. He joined Bureau Veritas, an international inspection company and in 1992 he established BV branch office in Ljubljana and worked as chief executive for 20 years.  

Mr. Lekic has been actively involved in the development of quality management standards being a member of ISO TC 176. He is one of the founders of Slovenian Quality and Excellence Association (SZKO) where he took position as a vice-president and executive manager for several years. As a SZKO representative at EOQ Mr. Lekic has been active within this organization, participating at its promotion and development. He is an EOQ Honorary Member.
