Title of the Presentation:
From paperwork to practice: Creating value-added documentation in an ISO 9001 QMS

Key words:
Value-added documentation – Process descriptions – Internal audits

Key message:
Creating value-added documentation in an ISO 9001 QMS. The implementation of an ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) is often associated with extensive documentation. However, it is no longer mandatory to have documented procedures as described in the 2008 version. According to §7.5 “Documented Information” of the ISO 9001:2015 standard, a QMS must only include the documented information required by the ISO 9001 standard.

A great example of such a document is a SIPOC-diagram or TURTLE-diagram. While not required by the standard, it is highly beneficial for supporting processes and it provides a visual and structured framework for describing processes (§4.4 ISO 9001:2015) and serves as a valuable tool for preparing and conducting internal audits (§9.2 ISO 9001:2015).
