Dr. Sampaio is the President of the Portuguese Association for Quality, APQ, and member of the Board in ASQ, American Society for Quality. He is widely used globally in research and international studies.

He has co-authored or authored more than 200 publications, 160 of them ISI/Scopus indexed papers.

He is the Coordinator of the Research Group on Quality and Organizational Excellence at the University of Minho.
