Approximately one-third of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) registered fleet is equipped with Kongsberg Maritime products. In 2006, Bjørn joined Kongsberg Maritime, where he has held various roles, including leading the Subsea business. He is currently the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Kongsberg Maritime, which provides products, integrated solutions, and digital technology to a wide range of maritime segments, from specialized offshore vessels to the merchant market.

Bjørn Jalving earned his MSc in Engineering Cybernetics from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in 1991. He worked at the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment, focusing on the development of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUV).

Presentation:

As the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Kongsberg Maritime, I work daily with new technologies that will enable us to deliver increasingly safe, secure, efficient, and sustainable solutions for the maritime industry. Major trends are digitalization and decarbonization.

When we together with customers and partners, develop, improve, and maintain our products and services, we observe that processes, tools and mindset are equally important as technology. Fantastic technology and products are created by ordinary people collaborating in innovative and effective ways.

Since 2020, I have been the owner of the Product Development and Management process at Kongsberg Maritime and have had the privilege of working with broad teams of competent colleagues. We are passionate about continuous improvement for the company as well as every employee. We believe the business management system can capture learnings and drive transformation of the company.

Technology companies compete to become future ready by transforming their operations to be data driven and AI enabled. In our experience, process maturity is a necessary condition to succeed.
