Skare has a long life as a leader, 38 of these in the Armed Forces both nationally and internationally, retiring as Major General in 2012. With a communications education and an interest in radio at the core, responsibility, authority and situational awareness have been central elements in everyday life throughout his professional career.

Skare has education as leader from the Norwegian and American Armed Forces, with an MSc in Strategic Resource Management from the National Defence University. He has led one of the largest National IT restructuring programs, is chairman of the board of Watchbird AS – and is very committed to community and volunteer efforts. He has spent the last 9 years working on realizing satellite-based broadband for the Arctic.
